Future Meeting Schedule
January 7th,14th, and 21st at 10:00 AM January 28th at 11:30 AM Adobe Acrobat Reader, V8 note: A security feature of this version pops up a window seeking user permission to follow a hyperlink to external files or web sites from an Acrobat document. You should allow access to links to web sites you know to be trustworthy. If you select the "block" option, you'll have difficulty accessing those web site from within Acrobat in the future. As yet, I've been unable to discover how to reverse that selection - uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat should work. Links to download sites for Adobe Acrobat free file reader programs are available at the bottom of this page. Adobe Reader is the heavy duty standard setter of these programs, but is a 21 MB download, and is generally slow loading when called by your browser to display a PDF file. FoxIt Reader is a program with fewer features, is only a 1.5 MB download, and is quick loading. You be the judge. Update: Adobe Reader, version 8, is still a huge download. Adobe includes a separate file, Photoshop Album, a photo management application (which you don't have to install) in the download package. Adobe Reader, V8 is now a much faster-loading program than prior versions, so the speed advantage of the FoxIt offering is substantially diminished, or eliminated. |
